"Spring into Action" May Sportsman's Auction Firearms, Knives
This is a simulcast auction — here is what that means for you
A simulcast auction is broadcast live online and held in person at the same time. You choose how you want to bid — show up at the auction house or log in from anywhere — and you are competing in the exact same auction, in real time, against every other bidder in the room and online. The auctioneer calls each lot once, bids are taken from both the floor and the internet simultaneously, and the item sells to the highest bid regardless of where it came from. There is no separate online auction and no replay — it is one live event, two ways to participate.
This auction moves fast — be ready to bid
Simulcast auctions run at the auctioneer's pace and do not slow down for online bidders. When your lot comes up, you may have only seconds to place your bid before the auctioneer moves on. Do not wait to decide — know your maximum before the auction starts, have your bidding screen open and ready, and act the moment your lot is called. Hesitation can cost you the item. If you are concerned about missing a lot, place a pre-bid in advance so the system bids on your behalf automatically up to your maximum.
Tie bids: the floor takes priority
In a simulcast auction it is possible for an online bid and a floor bid to arrive at the same amount at nearly the same moment. When a tie occurs between an online bid and a bid placed on the auction floor, the floor bid will be recognized as the priority bid and awarded the lot. This is standard practice in simulcast auctioneering. Online bidders are strongly encouraged to use the pre-bid feature or bid above the current increment to avoid a tie situation.
